19th November 2011
Gloucester Dance Festival 2011 ran from Saturday 22nd October to Friday 28th October. As before, the festival was held at Ribston Hall High School in Gloucester, the adjudicator being the inspiring and enthusiastic Yasmin Taylor-Hazzard who is a graduate of Ballet Rambert.
As we were told in the programme, Yasmin Taylor-Hazzard trained at the Royal Ballet School and, after graduating from Ballet Ramberet, she worked with the National Youth Ballet as an assistant choreographer in their production of the Dolls House at Sadlers Wells Theatre. She then went on to dance with the Dutch National Ballet in their tour of Romeo and Juliet. Miss Taylor-Hazzard quickly became very popular with the dancers as she was cheerful, positive and constructive, even giving competitors the occasional mini tutorial in the adjudication!
As always, J.M.D.S. dancers were a credit to themselves and their teachers, maintaining their usual high standard of presentation and attitude. A large amount of medals were won by our students which resulted in a significant number representing the dance school in the tap, ballet and modern championships.
Huge congratulations to all our dancers on another successful festival. A special mention must go to the trophy winners who are as follows:
