In early February the senior students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop run by the company members of Ballet Boyz - The Talent.
Ballet Boyz- The Talent is the latest project by Michael Nunn & William Trevitt and is a company of nine male dancers performing exciting, innovative modern choreography – they have been likened to the "JLS of dance" They are currently touring the UK with their new programme and whilst in Cheltenham ran a one off workshop which 20 of our senior students attended together with pupils from other local dance schools.
During the course of the workshop the students were taught very different techniques to their usual classes – involving lots of contact and partner work to reflect the type of choreography demonstrated in the Balletboyz performance. The students learnt a contact piece from the Balletboyz choreography which they then added their own ideas to. The pupils enjoyed learning a different style taught in such an interesting and inspiring way.
The following evening we followed up the workshop by attending the excellent performance at the Everyman theatre and enjoyed the full programme that had created ideas for the workshop.
It was an excellent opportunity for students to work with different dance industry professionals. Thank you to Mrs Marshall and the teachers for organising such a fantastic workshop.
