Student Helpers

We are so grateful for our amazing Senior students who help our younger students in class each week!

Have a read of their profiles and why they enjoy helping in class!

Ella Grainger

Hello, my name is Ella and I have been dancing since I was three. My favourite style of dancing is modern or contemporary, however I love them all. I adore my time working at the studio on a Wednesday and Saturday. One of the many things I’ve learned is that no two days are ever the same. Whether it’s fitting new ballet shoes, or chatting with the little ones, I love it all. The JMDS team is like no other and I am so proud to be a part of it. I am off to university next year to begin a new chapter of my life. The happy memories I have from my time here at the studio will stay with me forever. I hope that my love of dance and JMDS, that I’ve shared with the children stays with them throughout their dancing journeys.

Lily Rees

Hi, I’m Lily and I am 16! I have been dancing here since I was two and it really is my home away from home. My favourite dance genre is tap because being able to use my feet as an instrument. I love working at JMDS because the students are all so lovely and welcoming. I particularly love working with the baby ballet class because I get to teach them new ballet moves and it’s a thrill. I am so grateful for all the training I have received that has led me onto being the performer I am today.

Amelia Thomas

Hi, I’m Amelia and I love being co- head girl and a helper at JMDS. I have been dancing for 14 years, so I have grown up in this environment. I am so pleased to have had this opportunity to be a role model to the younger students. Seeing the progression students make week by week is really rewarding. I loved assisting the younger grades in the show and seeing their confidence grow the more they stepped onto the stage. I love helping with all genres, but my favourite style is modern. Performing on stage has become my passion and I am so grateful for the opportunities JMDS has given me!

Lola Hunton

Hi, my name is Lola and I’m 14 years old. I’m one of the helpers on a Wednesday and I really enjoy it. I love to see them have fun and improve. I always look forward to coming on a Wednesday and chatting to them. It is a stress-free time where I can relax and have fun. I have learned so much and can’t wait to watch the children flourish. I still remember the people who helped me when I was younger and I really hope the students look up to me in the same way.
